The SOUTHWARK METAL WS12_3-1/4X10-4X10 is a horizontal sheet metal duct stack head used to transition between a floor joist cavity or wall stack and a floor register boot in residential forced-air HVAC systems. Fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel, this fitting measures 3-1/4 x 10 inches on the stack inlet side and 4 x 10 inches on the outlet, making it a standard fit for floor supply applications. HVAC sheet metal installers and ductwork contractors use this component when stubbing up supply air from a crawl space or basement duct system into a living space floor register.
This stack head is suited for residential new construction and retrofit HVAC ductwork projects where a horizontal fitting is required to connect a rectangular stack to a floor boot or register. The horizontal orientation accommodates installations where the duct approaches the register from a side angle rather than straight up. It conforms to ACCA and SMACNA standards, making it appropriate for permitted residential and light commercial duct installations designed to Manual D or equivalent specifications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-construction fitting for residential forced-air supply duct systems using standard rectangular stack and floor boot configurations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal installer in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and local mechanical codes. Power down the air handler or furnace at the disconnect before working in the duct system. Secure all joints with sheet metal screws and UL 181-rated mastic or tape per local code requirements. Do not compress or deform the fitting during installation, as dimensional changes will reduce airflow and affect Manual D design performance.
