The SOUTHWARK METAL AT62_8IN is a stick-on, Air-Tite sheet metal duct top takeoff designed to transition from a rectangular duct trunk to an 8-inch round branch run. Constructed from hot dip galvanized steel, this fitting delivers a corrosion-resistant, airtight connection at the point of branch departure. The stick-on design allows the fitting to be attached directly to the flat surface of a rectangular main duct, eliminating the need to cut a precise collar opening before securing. HVAC installers and sheet metal fabricators use this fitting during new construction ductwork layout and in retrofit applications where branch runs must be added to existing trunk lines.
This top takeoff is suited for low-pressure residential and light commercial supply air distribution systems where a round branch duct — flex or rigid — must be tapped off the top face of a rectangular trunk. The round-to-rectangular transition geometry accommodates standard 8-inch round duct connections. It is appropriate for installation in attic, basement, crawlspace, and mechanical room environments where galvanized steel fabrications are specified.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for low-pressure residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems using rectangular trunk and 8-inch round branch configurations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or journeyman sheet metal worker in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and local mechanical code requirements. Power down the air handling unit and verify zero airflow before cutting into or attaching to any pressurized duct section. Secure the fitting to the duct surface using sheet metal screws and seal all joints with code-approved mastic or foil-backed tape per ACCA and SMACNA guidelines. Do not rely on the stick-on adhesive alone as the sole means of mechanical attachment in applications subject to vibration or positive static pressure.
