The Southwark Metal 28R_4X12X6 is a center-end sheet metal pipe boot designed to transition from a round duct collar to a rectangular floor or wall register opening. Constructed from hot dip galvanized steel, this boot provides corrosion resistance suited to residential and light commercial HVAC duct systems. The rectangular face measures 4 inches by 12 inches and accepts a 6-inch diameter round collar at the center end. HVAC sheet metal installers and duct fabricators use this fitting to terminate supply duct runs at floor, ceiling, or sidewall register locations.
This pipe boot is intended for use in forced-air supply duct systems where a round pipe must transition to a rectangular register face. The center-end configuration positions the round collar at the center of the boot, making it well suited for straight-drop floor boot installations. It conforms to ACCA and SMACNA applicable standards, making it appropriate for residential new construction and retrofit HVAC ductwork projects.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for forced-air HVAC supply duct systems requiring a 4-inch by 12-inch register face and a 6-inch diameter round collar connection at the center end.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal installer following SMACNA duct construction standards and applicable local mechanical codes. The air handling system should be fully powered down before cutting into existing ductwork or securing the boot. Secure the boot to the subfloor or framing opening using sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL 181-rated mastic or foil tape to prevent conditioned air leakage. Do not use standard duct tape as a primary sealant on sheet metal duct connections.
