The SKYCO CHEMICALS OSPHO-16 is a phosphoric acid-based rust inhibiting treatment formulated for metal surfaces in industrial, commercial, and trade applications. It is not a paint or primer. OSPHO-16 reacts chemically with iron oxide (rust), converting it to iron phosphate — an inert, hard compound that bonds to the metal and turns it black. The treatment is suitable for ferrous metals and aluminum, works on both exterior and interior surfaces, and covers approximately 600 square feet per gallon. Installers and maintenance technicians apply it prior to oil-base primers and topcoats to extend coating life and prevent corrosion recurrence.

OSPHO-16 is used across a wide range of trade applications where metal surfaces are subject to rust and corrosion: structural steel, HVAC equipment frames, ductwork supports, plumbing hangers, pool equipment enclosures, electrical conduit supports, and similar ferrous components.
