The SKF 7208 BECBY is a single-row angular contact ball bearing designed for applications that combine radial and axial loads. It features a 40-degree contact angle, which enables the bearing to handle significant thrust loads alongside radial forces. With a dynamic load capacity of 36,400 pounds and a static load capacity of 24,000 pounds, this bearing is built for demanding industrial and mechanical drive applications. The open-style design and pressed brass cage contribute to stable ball guidance at elevated speeds, up to a maximum of 9,000 RPM. Licensed bearing technicians and mechanical maintenance professionals are the typical installers.
This bearing is suited for use in industrial machinery, pumps, compressors, electric motors, and machine tool spindles where combined axial and radial load handling is required. The 40-degree contact angle makes it particularly well suited for applications with dominant axial load components in one direction. The round bore and single-row configuration allow for straightforward shaft mounting in a wide range of equipment. The ABEC-3 (P6) dimensional and ABEC-5 (P5) running accuracy ratings make it appropriate for applications requiring moderate to high precision.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit single-row angular contact ball bearing for industrial equipment requiring a 40mm bore, 80mm outside diameter, 18mm width bearing in the 7208 BE series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified mechanical technician with experience handling precision bearings. Always de-energize and lock out the equipment before replacing the bearing. Use a proper bearing press or induction heater for shaft and housing fits - never strike the bearing directly with a hammer, as this will damage the raceways and cage. Follow equipment manufacturer torque specifications for housing and retaining hardware.
