The SIOUX CHIEF sc-643wg2 is a no-lead transition fitting designed to connect 1/2 inch male sweat (solder) copper connections to 1/2 inch F1960 PEX expansion fittings. This type of adapter is used in potable water systems where copper and PEX tubing meet at a transition point, allowing installers to shift between pipe materials within the same run. The no-lead construction meets federal and state safe drinking water requirements for use in potable water applications. Licensed plumbers install this fitting during new construction, renovation, or repair work on residential and light commercial water distribution systems.
This fitting is suited for applications where a copper supply line or stub-out must transition to a PEX expansion system using the F1960 cold-expansion method. Typical install scenarios include water heater connections, manifold branch points, and fixture supply transitions where copper meets PEX-a tubing. The male sweat end solders directly onto a copper fitting or tube end, while the F1960 expansion end accepts a PEX-a expansion ring and tube per ASTM F1960 standards.
Designed as an OEM-style transition fitting for potable water plumbing systems using 1/2 inch copper sweat connections on one end and 1/2 inch F1960 PEX-a expansion connections on the other.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before beginning work. The male sweat end requires standard soldering tools and flux; follow local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for soldered joints. The F1960 end requires a compatible cold-expansion tool and PEX-a expansion ring per ASTM F1960 procedures.
