The Simpson Strong-Tie LSTA18 is a galvanized steel strap tie designed for structural framing connections in wood construction. Measuring 1-1/4 inches wide by 18 inches long, it fastens across dimensional lumber members to transfer tension loads at critical connection points. The nailing pattern is engineered to reduce the potential for splitting when driven into the edge of 2x lumber members. Licensed contractors and experienced framers install this hardware as part of code-required structural connections in residential and light commercial builds.
The LSTA18 is suited for use at wall intersections where plates or soles are cut, and at ridge ties where opposing rafter members meet at the roof peak. It is installed on the edge face of 2x dimensional lumber members. The strap format makes it effective in tight framing bays where larger hardware brackets would not fit. Galvanized construction provides corrosion resistance for use in standard interior and exterior framing applications.
Designed as an OEM-style structural connector for use with standard 2x dimensional lumber members in residential and light commercial wood-frame construction.
Installation is performed by licensed framers or structural contractors following applicable building codes, including IBC and IRC fastening schedules. Fasten with the specified nail size and count per the Simpson Strong-Tie load table for this product to achieve rated load values. Do not substitute fastener type or count, as this will affect the rated connection strength. No special tools beyond a hammer or pneumatic nailer are typically required.
