The SIMPSON STRONG-TIE HUS26 is a slant nail joist hanger engineered for 2x6 dimensional lumber connections in wood-frame construction. It uses a double shear nailing design that distributes load through two points on each joist nail, increasing connection strength without requiring specialty fasteners. Common nails work throughout, which speeds up installation and reduces fastener inventory on the job site. A galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance for treated lumber applications and damp environments. This hanger is installed by framers, carpenters, and structural contractors as part of floor, deck, and roof framing assemblies.
The HUS26 is suited for residential and light commercial wood-frame construction where 2x6 joists connect to a header, beam, or ledger. Its slant nail geometry allows nailing at an angle without bending or removing the integral tabs, maintaining the structural integrity of the connection. The double shear design means fewer nails are needed per connection compared to standard hangers, allowing faster assembly on large framing runs.
Designed as an OEM-style framing connector for 2x6 nominal lumber in standard wood-frame joist and beam applications.
Installation is performed by licensed carpenters or framers following local building codes and IRC framing requirements. Do not bend or remove the integral tabs, as doing so compromises the rated load capacity of the connection. Fasten using common nails of the diameter and length specified on the product specification sheet for the application. Inspect the installed hanger for full seat bearing and complete nail fill before covering with subfloor or sheathing.
