The SIMPSON STRONG-TIE BC60Z is a dual-purpose post cap and base connector designed for 6x6 lumber, finished with a Z-MAX coating for enhanced corrosion resistance. Constructed from 18-gauge galvanized steel, this connector handles light cap or base connections in wood-framed structures. It is installed by licensed contractors, carpenters, and structural framers working on decks, pergolas, covered patios, and similar load-bearing assemblies. The Z-MAX coating provides a thicker zinc layer than standard galvanizing, making it suitable for environments with higher moisture exposure or where treated lumber is used.

The BC60Z is used in residential and light commercial construction applications where a code-compliant post-to-beam or post-to-footing connection is required. Typical installations include deck framing, pergola columns, carport posts, and covered outdoor structures. Install with 16d common nails or 16d x 2-1/2 joist hanger nails per manufacturer requirements. This connector is not recommended for non-top-supported installations such as fences or unbraced carports where lateral rotation resistance is required.
