The SIMPSON STRONG-TIE BC40Z is a dual-purpose post cap and base connector designed for light cap or base connections in wood-frame construction. Fabricated from 18-gauge galvanized steel with a Z-Max coating for enhanced corrosion resistance, this half base fits 4x4 nominal lumber. It is installed by licensed contractors, structural carpenters, and experienced framers working on decks, pergolas, covered structures, and similar light-frame applications. The BC40Z weighs approximately 0.35 pounds and is sold individually. Proper fastener selection is critical to achieving rated load values.

The BC40Z is suited for residential and light commercial wood-frame construction where a post base or cap connection is required for 4x4 members. Common install scenarios include deck post bases, pergola post connections, and covered patio structures where top-supported members are present.
