The SIMPSON STRONG-TIE A34 is an 18-gauge galvanized steel framing angle designed to connect and reinforce dimensional lumber in light framing applications. The connector forms a 90-degree angle, making it suitable for joining 2x3 and 2x4 lumber at perpendicular intersections. A built-in speed prong seats the connector against the framing member during installation, freeing the installer to drive fasteners without repositioning the bracket. Installation requires 8-8d x 1-1/2 inch nails. The A34 is also available with a ZMAX coating for environments that demand higher corrosion resistance.
The A34 is used in residential and light commercial wood-frame construction where structural connections between wall framing members, blocking, and headers require a reliable, code-familiar metal connector. Carpenters, framers, and general contractors install this angle during rough framing. It is appropriate for wall-to-wall, wall-to-ceiling, and similar 90-degree lumber junctions in standard framing layouts.
Designed for use with 2x3 and 2x4 dimensional lumber framing in standard light-frame wood construction applications.
Installation is performed by framers and general carpenters using standard hand or pneumatic nailing tools. Fasten with 8-8d x 1-1/2 inch nails as specified — do not substitute longer or shorter fasteners, as fastener length affects rated load performance. Ensure lumber members are plumb and square before seating the connector. Consult applicable building codes for required connector schedules and inspection requirements in your jurisdiction.
