The SIGMA 819902529 is a cored square head plug used to close off pipe ends in threaded piping systems. Manufactured from malleable iron with a galvanized finish, it provides corrosion resistance in typical plumbing, HVAC, and light industrial piping applications. The square head profile allows for positive wrench engagement during installation and removal. At 1-1/2 inches nominal size, it fits standard NPT-threaded pipe fittings of the same size. This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on threaded black or galvanized iron pipe systems.
This plug is suited for residential and commercial piping installations where a threaded pipe end must be capped or temporarily sealed. Common applications include closing unused branch outlets on gas, water, or steam distribution piping. The galvanized coating makes it appropriate for exposed or mildly humid environments where bare iron would be susceptible to surface corrosion. It is typically used in conjunction with other malleable iron fittings in standard threaded pipe assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for use with standard 1-1/2 inch NPT-threaded malleable iron pipe systems in plumbing, HVAC, and light industrial applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter using a pipe wrench or adjustable wrench. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before installation, following local plumbing code requirements such as the IPC or IFGC. Always depressurize and drain the pipe system before removing or installing any threaded plug. Do not over-tighten, as malleable iron threads can be damaged by excessive force.
