The SIGMA 811090018 is a FIG 1167 malleable iron galvanized pipe reducing coupling designed for threaded pipe systems in mechanical and industrial piping applications. It connects pipes of two different nominal diameters using female National Pipe Taper (FNPT) threads on both ends. Rated at 150 lb, this coupling provides a reliable, pressure-rated connection in low-pressure steam, water, and general-purpose piping systems. The hot-dip galvanized finish resists corrosion in wet or exposed environments. Malleable iron construction offers the toughness and ductility required for threaded pipe assemblies.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic piping, fire protection piping, and general mechanical systems where a threaded transition from 2.5 inch nominal pipe to 2 inch nominal pipe is needed. It is commonly installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters during new construction or retrofit work. The FNPT thread configuration on both ends allows direct connection to standard NPT-threaded pipe and fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT threaded pipe systems using 2.5 inch to 2 inch nominal pipe transitions in 150 lb-rated malleable iron piping assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or local jurisdiction requirements. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system before installing or replacing any threaded fittings. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before making up the joint. Do not over-tighten threaded connections, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
