The SIGMA 811089218 is a malleable iron galvanized reducing coupling designed to connect pipes of two different nominal diameters in threaded piping systems. Rated at 150 lb, this fitting transitions from a 2-inch nominal pipe to a 1-1/4-inch nominal pipe using female NPT (FNPT) threads on both ends. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance for use in wet or moderately corrosive environments. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in water supply, fire protection, and general industrial piping systems where a reduction in line size is required.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and commercial piping installations where a threaded inline size reduction is needed. It is commonly found in water distribution lines, compressed air systems, and general-purpose industrial piping. The FNPT end style on both ends allows direct thread engagement with standard NPT-threaded pipe, nipples, and fittings without adapters. The malleable iron construction handles the mechanical stress of assembled threaded systems, making it appropriate for both new construction and retrofit work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 150 lb threaded malleable iron piping systems using 2-inch to 1-1/4-inch nominal pipe sizes with NPT threading.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPT threads before assembly. Do not over-torque the connection, as malleable iron fittings can crack if excessive force is applied.
