The SIGMA 811089010 is a malleable iron galvanized reducing coupling designed to connect pipes of two different nominal diameters in threaded piping systems. Conforming to a 150 lb pressure class, this fitting features female national pipe taper (FNPT) threads on both ends and transitions from a 2 inch nominal inlet to a 1.5 inch nominal outlet. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance for use in water, air, and general industrial service lines. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during new construction and retrofit work where a line-size reduction is required along a straight run of threaded pipe.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, fire protection support piping, compressed air distribution, and general industrial fluid handling systems that use standard NPT threaded malleable iron fittings. It is appropriate wherever a straight reducer is needed without a change in pipe direction, making it a common component in mechanical rooms, utility connections, and process piping layouts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for 150 lb malleable iron threaded piping systems using 2 inch to 1.5 inch nominal NPT pipe connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC and IFGC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly and tighten to proper engagement without over-torquing the fitting. Inspect threads for damage before installation to ensure a leak-free seal.
