The SIGMA 810089219 is a malleable iron reducing coupling designed for joining two threaded pipe sections of different nominal sizes in standard piping systems. Configured with female National Pipe Taper (FNPT) threads on both ends, this FIG 3121R-style fitting connects a 2-inch pipe to a 1-1/4-inch pipe in a straight-line reducer configuration. Rated at 150 lb, it carries a black oxide finish that provides corrosion resistance appropriate for general-purpose industrial and commercial plumbing applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in low-pressure fluid and gas distribution systems where pipe diameter changes are required along the run.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, hydronic heating systems, compressed air lines, and general industrial piping where a 150 lb malleable iron threaded fitting meets code or specification. The FNPT end style on both connections allows direct thread engagement with standard NPT-threaded pipe on both the 2-inch and 1-1/4-inch sides without additional adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded replacement fitting for 150 lb malleable iron piping systems using standard NPT-threaded pipe in 2-inch and 1-1/4-inch nominal sizes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or local mechanical codes. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male pipe threads before engagement. Hand-tighten first, then wrench-tighten to a snug fit using pipe wrenches sized appropriately for each end diameter.
