The SIGMA 810088005 is a malleable iron reducing coupling designed to connect pipes of two different diameters in threaded piping systems. Conforming to a 150 lb pressure class, this fitting features female national pipe taper (FNPT) threads on both ends, allowing it to transition from a 1-1/4 inch nominal pipe to a 1/2 inch nominal pipe. The black oxide finish provides a degree of corrosion resistance suitable for typical indoor plumbing and mechanical installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in gas, water, and general-purpose piping assemblies.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and light commercial piping applications where a threaded reduction is needed between a 1-1/4 inch and 1/2 inch line. Common install scenarios include branch takeoffs, fixture supply drops, and gas distribution manifold connections. The FNPT thread pattern is compatible with standard NPT-threaded pipe and fittings throughout the system.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 150 lb class malleable iron threaded piping systems accepting 1-1/4 inch by 1/2 inch FNPT reducing couplings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, including the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) where relevant. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before disassembling or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly to ensure a leak-free joint. Do not overtighten, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
