The SIGMA 810087007 is a FIG 3121R malleable iron reducing coupling designed to connect two pipes of different diameters in threaded piping systems. It transitions from a 1-inch nominal pipe to a 1/2-inch nominal pipe using female NPT (FNPT) threads on both ends. Rated at 150 lb, this coupling is built for standard-pressure applications in gas, water, and steam distribution systems. The black oxide finish provides a base level of corrosion resistance for use in typical interior mechanical environments. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting as part of threaded black iron piping assemblies.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and light commercial piping installations where a threaded reduction in line size is required. Common applications include natural gas supply lines, low-pressure steam systems, and water distribution headers. The FNPT connection style mates with standard NPT-threaded pipe and fittings, making it broadly compatible with existing threaded iron pipe systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for threaded malleable iron pipe systems using 1-inch to 1/2-inch NPT connections rated at 150 lb.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes, including the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) as required by the system type. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before disassembling or installing any threaded fittings. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to male NPT threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten; use a pipe wrench and backup wrench to avoid stressing adjacent fittings or pipe.
