Product Description

The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UC412LFA is a lead free brass barb insert tee designed for cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubing systems. It creates a 1/2 inch branch off a 3/4 inch main run without soldering or open flame. The fitting meets NSF/ANSI Standard 14-2009 and ASTM F 1807 for potable water transport, and complies with ANSI/NSF Standard 61 Annex G for lead free service. Wetted surfaces contain less than 0.25% lead by weight, satisfying California AB1953 and Vermont VT S152 low lead restrictions. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial PEX distribution systems where a reduced-size branch is needed off the main supply line.

This tee is suited for residential hot and cold water distribution, radiant heating branch lines, and any application using 3/4 inch PEX main runs requiring a 1/2 inch branch takeoff. The 1/2 inch barb end secures to 1/2 inch PEX pipe using TV 608-933 cinch clamps with a TV 608-743 cinch tool, or with copper crimp rings and a crimp tool. The two 3/4 inch barb ends secure to 3/4 inch PEX pipe using TV 608-826 cinch clamps with a TV 608-743 cinch tool, or with copper crimp rings and a crimp tool. The assembly is immediately testable to well over 100 psi after installation.

Compatibility

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into the existing PEX run. Ensure barb ends are fully seated into the PEX tubing before applying cinch clamps or crimp rings — a partial seat is a common cause of leaks. Pressure test the assembly before closing in walls or concealing the connection.
