The SHARKBITE UAB120LFA is a 1/2-inch PEX-A x 1/2-inch male NPT brass expansion adapter fitting designed for potable water distribution systems. Each fitting is constructed from lead-free, dezincification-resistant brass and is compatible exclusively with PEX-A pipe. The connection method relies on the expansion process: the PEX-A pipe end is expanded using a dedicated expansion tool, an expansion ring is slipped over the pipe, and the fitting is inserted. As the pipe recovers its original diameter, it forms a tight, permanent seal. This package contains 24 fittings. Licensed plumbers install these fittings during new construction or remodel work on PEX-A water distribution systems.
These adapters are suited for residential and light commercial potable water applications where a PEX-A run must transition to a threaded male NPT connection. Typical scenarios include connecting PEX-A tubing runs to ball valves, manifold ports, or threaded fixture supply inlets. Because the expansion method requires a specific tool and matching expansion rings, these fittings are intended for use in projects where that tooling is already on hand. They are not compatible with PEX-B or PEX-C pipe.
Compatible with PEX-A pipe only. Requires a PEX expansion tool and PEX-A expansion rings to complete the connection. Not compatible with PEX-B or PEX-C pipe.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting pipe or making any connections. A dedicated PEX expansion tool sized for 1/2-inch pipe and matching expansion rings are required — do not attempt to install these fittings without the correct expansion tooling. The male NPT end should be wrapped with thread seal tape and hand-tightened before final torque with a wrench to avoid over-stressing the fitting body.
