The SHARKBITE UAB016LFA is a barb-style PEX-A brass coupling designed for joining PEX-A tubing in residential and light commercial plumbing systems. The barb connection style requires a crimp or clamp tool to secure the fitting onto PEX-A pipe, creating a leak-resistant joint suited for potable water supply lines, hydronic heating runs, and similar applications. Constructed from brass, this coupling offers reliable corrosion resistance in both hot and cold water service. Licensed plumbers and experienced plumbing contractors are the primary installers, though knowledgeable DIYers working within local code allowances also use this fitting type regularly.
This coupling is appropriate for straight-run connections where two sections of PEX-A tubing need to be joined, such as repairs, extensions, or new rough-in work. It is sold individually and is well-suited for residential plumbing installations including domestic hot and cold water distribution and in-floor radiant heating systems where PEX-A is the tubing of choice.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for PEX-A tubing in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified tradesperson in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve line pressure before cutting into any existing pipe. A proper PEX crimp or expansion tool matched to the fitting size is required to achieve a code-compliant, leak-free connection. Do not use this barb fitting with PEX-B or PEX-C tubing without verifying compatibility with the fitting manufacturer specifications.
