The SHARKBITE U860R2 is a red, cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) stick tube designed for potable water distribution in residential and light commercial plumbing systems. Sized at 1/2 inch Copper Tube Size (CTS) and cut to 2-foot lengths, it is engineered to work directly with SharkBite push-fit fittings. Each stick is printed with the SharkBite imprint pattern along its length, giving installers a clear visual reference to confirm full tube insertion into a push-fit fitting before the connection is made. Plumbers and pipefitters are the primary trade that handles and installs this tubing.
This red PEX tubing is suited for hot-water supply lines in residential plumbing rough-ins, remodel work, and repair applications where a pre-cut, rigid stick format simplifies handling and cutting on the job site. The 2-foot stick length is practical for short runs, stub-outs, and fixture drops. The red color coding follows standard industry convention for hot-water lines, making system identification straightforward during installation and future service. Each package contains 60 sticks, making it appropriate for contractors stocking a service van or supply room.
Designed for use with SharkBite push-fit fittings sized for 1/2 inch CTS PEX tubing. Suitable for potable water distribution systems where PEX-A or cross-linked polyethylene tubing is an accepted material per applicable plumbing codes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC) where adopted. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into any existing line. Confirm full tube insertion by verifying the SharkBite imprint pattern is no longer visible outside the fitting body after seating. Do not bend PEX tubing below its minimum bend radius, and avoid exposing the tubing to direct UV light for extended periods.
