The SHARKBITE U855W100 is a white PEX-B flexible pipe with a 3/8-inch inside diameter, sold as a 100-foot roll. PEX-B pipe is cross-linked polyethylene tubing manufactured using the moisture-cure (silane) method, which produces a flexible, durable pipe suitable for residential and light commercial water distribution systems. This pipe carries an 80 psi pressure rating and a temperature range of 33 degrees F to 200 degrees F, making it appropriate for both hot and cold potable water lines. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers, though knowledgeable DIYers use it in permitted applications. The flexible format reduces the total number of fittings required compared to rigid pipe runs, lowering both labor time and the number of potential leak points on a job.
This pipe is suited for hot and cold potable water distribution, fire protection systems, and municipal water service lines in residential and light commercial construction. The freeze-resistant characteristics of PEX-B allow the pipe to expand slightly under freezing conditions and contract when thawed, reducing the risk of a burst pipe in unconditioned spaces or exterior wall cavities. The white color coding is neutral, making it usable for either hot or cold supply lines where color-coded identification is not required by local code. The 100-foot roll format is practical for new construction rough-in work and whole-house repipe projects.
Designed for use with standard PEX-B compatible fittings and connection systems rated for 3/8-inch pipe in potable water, fire protection, and municipal water service line applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local amendments. Shut off the main water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into any existing lines. Use a dedicated PEX pipe cutter to produce a clean, square cut end before making any connection. Avoid kinking the pipe during routing; use bend supports or bend guides where tight turns are required to maintain minimum bend radius.
