The SharkBite U249LFA is a 1/2-inch drop ear elbow fitting designed for push-fit installation on potable and hydronic water distribution systems. Constructed from DZR brass, it delivers reliable performance rated to 200 psi and 200 degrees F. The push-fit connection requires no soldering, crimping, or special tools, making it a fast option for rough-in and repair work. An integral tube liner is included, supporting compatibility across multiple pipe types. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial applications where a wall-mounted elbow transition is needed. Each package contains 6 fittings.
The U249LFA suits copper tubing (CTS), CPVC, and PEX pipe installations. Its drop ear design allows the fitting to be screw-mounted to framing or blocking, providing a stable anchor point for supply stubs at fixtures, shower valves, and wall-outlet connections. It is certified for underground applications as a manufactured joint, eliminating the need for access panels in those installations. This makes it suitable for slab and below-grade rough-in work where access after pour is not practical.
Compatible with 1/2-inch copper tubing (CTS), CPVC, and PEX pipe. Listed with IAPMO and certified for use on potable and hydronic water distribution systems. Meets UPC, IPC, and CUPC requirements. Design certified to ASSE 1061 and NSF 61 standards.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with IPC or UPC requirements and local code. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into existing lines. Ensure pipe ends are cut square, deburred, and cleaned to the depth mark before inserting into the push-fit socket. Screw-mount the drop ear flange to solid backing such as a blocking board or stud to prevent movement under operating pressure.
