The SHARKBITE U050LFA is a push-fit reducer coupling designed to transition 1/2-inch pipe down to 1/4-inch pipe without soldering, clamps, unions, or glue. Stainless steel teeth grip the pipe on insertion, and a specially formulated O-ring compresses to form a watertight seal. The result is a fast, secure mechanical connection that holds on copper, CPVC, or PEX pipe in any combination. Disassembly is equally straightforward using a standard SharkBite disconnect tool, making it practical for service work where fittings or valves may need to be changed or reused.
This coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where a quick, code-compliant pipe reduction is needed. Common install scenarios include connecting supply lines, hooking up appliances, or tying into existing distribution runs where the pipe size steps down from 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch. The push-fit design makes it a practical choice in tight spaces where a torch or solvent cement would be difficult or unsafe to use. It is sold in a package of 12 units.
Designed for use with copper, CPVC, and PEX pipe in any combination, transitioning from 1/2-inch to 1/4-inch pipe diameter.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified tradespeople in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Before making or breaking any connection, shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure completely. Ensure pipe ends are cut square, deburred, and free of debris before insertion. Use only a proper SharkBite disconnect clip or disconnect tool to remove the fitting — do not attempt to pull the pipe free without releasing the collet, as this can damage the fitting and the pipe.
