The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UC072LFA10 is a lead-free brass barb insert adapter that connects 1/2-inch PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) tubing to a 1/2-inch female pipe thread (FPT) fitting or pipe end. Sold in a 10-pack, this fitting is designed for potable water systems and meets NSF/ANSI Standard 14-2009, ASTM F 1807, and ANSI/NSF Standard 61 Annex G for lead-free compliance. The wetted surfaces contain less than 0.25% lead by weight, satisfying California AB 1953 and Vermont VT S152 low-lead restrictions. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this adapter in residential and light commercial water distribution applications where PEX transitions to threaded iron pipe connections are required.
This adapter is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where 1/2-inch PEX tubing must terminate at a threaded pipe end or threaded fitting. The barb end accepts standard 1/2-inch PEX tubing and can be secured using cinch clamps with a cinch tool or copper crimp rings with a crimp tool. The assembly is immediately pressure-testable to well over 100 psi after installation, which is useful during rough-in inspections or post-repair verification.
Designed for use with 1/2-inch cross-linked polyethylene PEX tubing connecting to 1/2-inch male iron pipe thread fittings or pipe ends. The barb end may be secured with cinch clamps used with a cinch tool or with copper crimp rings and a crimp tool. Intended for potable water transport applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into any existing line. Ensure the PEX tubing end is cut cleanly and squarely before seating it fully onto the barb. Use the appropriate crimp or cinch tool rated for 1/2-inch PEX to achieve a proper, leak-free connection — do not hand-tighten clamps without the proper tool.
