The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UC058LFA is a lead free brass barb insert coupling designed to connect 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubing in potable water systems. The fitting features a 3/4-inch barb on one end and a 1/2-inch barb on the other, allowing a direct transition between the two common PEX sizes. It is rated testable to well over 100 psi immediately after installation. Manufactured from lead free brass, the wetted surface contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, satisfying AB1953 California and VT S152 Vermont low-lead restrictions. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial plumbing applications.
This coupling is suited for potable water distribution lines where a 3/4-inch PEX run reduces to 1/2-inch PEX at a branch or fixture connection. It is compatible with cinch-clamp installation using TV 608-826 clamps and TV 608-743 cinch tool on the 3/4-inch barb end, and TV 608-933 clamps with the same TV 608-743 cinch tool on the 1/2-inch barb end. Copper crimp rings and a standard crimp tool are also an accepted installation method. Typical applications include hydronic branch lines, domestic hot and cold supply, and in-wall or under-slab PEX runs.
Designed for use with 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubing. Compatible with cinch-clamp installation using TV 608-826 cinch clamps and TV 608-743 cinch tool on the 3/4-inch end, and TV 608-933 cinch clamps with TV 608-743 cinch tool on the 1/2-inch end. Copper crimp rings and a copper crimp tool are also an accepted installation method per ASTM F 1807.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into existing PEX runs. Ensure the correct clamp or crimp ring size is matched to each barb end — 3/4-inch hardware on the 3/4-inch end and 1/2-inch hardware on the 1/2-inch end — before applying the cinch or crimp tool. Do not mix clamp styles on the same fitting without verifying tool and ring compatibility.
