The SGS PRO 12553 is a double cut tungsten carbide rotary bur in the SD-5 ball shape, designed for aggressive material removal and finishing in metalworking applications. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 7/16 inch length of cut, and a 1/4 inch shank diameter, with an overall length of 2-1/8 inches. The double cut tooth pattern generates less heat and produces a finer finish than single cut designs, making it well suited for use in die grinders and rotary tools. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians are the primary installers and users of this style bur.
The SGS PRO 12553 is used across a wide range of metalworking and fabrication tasks including deburring, porting, contouring, and surface blending. Its uncoated tungsten carbide head is rated for use on steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, nickel, copper, and copper alloys. It is a practical choice for both shop and field service work where a 1/4 inch collet chuck is available on a die grinder or high-speed rotary tool.
Designed to fit any die grinder or rotary tool equipped with a standard 1/4 inch collet. Rated for use on steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, nickel, copper, and copper alloys per the SD-5 industry specification.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with rotary cutting tools. Always power down and unplug the die grinder before inserting or removing the bur from the collet. Verify the collet size matches the 1/4 inch shank before securing the tool, and do not exceed the rated 28000 RPM maximum. Wear appropriate eye and face protection during operation.
