The SGS 93273 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in steel and other ferrous materials. Built on the Series 56B platform, it features a 0.0625 inch cutting diameter with a matching 0.0625 inch length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation. The AlTiN coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, making this tool well-suited for high-speed roughing operations where tool life under thermal load is a priority. With a micrograin carbide body and right-hand cutting and flute direction, it delivers consistent performance in demanding CNC machining environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in precision manufacturing and job shop settings are the primary users of this tool.
This ball end mill is used in CNC machining centers for profiling, contouring, and slot milling in steel and similar primary workpiece materials. The extended reach design, with a 0.125 inch reach length and a 0.055 inch neck diameter, allows access to features in deeper cavities or stepped workpieces without sacrificing rigidity in the shank. The 0.25 inch shank diameter provides a secure grip in standard collet and end mill holder setups. It is a single-end tool, meaning the cutting geometry is on one end only.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fit for CNC machining setups using 0.25 inch collets or end mill holders; compatible with applications specifying Series 56B solid carbide ball end mills in steel and ferrous material machining.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the 0.25 inch shank fully and evenly in the collet or holder to the manufacturer-recommended insertion depth, and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder specification. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; external coolant or air blast should be directed at the cutting zone during operation.
