The SGS 77327 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding shop environments. Built on the Series 77 platform, it features a 1-inch cutting diameter, a 4-inch length of cut, and a 7-inch overall length. The 7-flute geometry combined with a variable helix angle of 37 degrees reduces harmonic vibration and improves chip evacuation at higher feed rates. A TiN coating adds surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life in abrasive materials. Micrograin carbide construction provides the toughness needed for interrupted cuts and aggressive material removal. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in production and job shop settings.
The SGS 77327 is suited for milling a broad range of workpiece materials, including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, consistent with primary material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The extra-long length of cut makes it effective for deep-pocket milling, tall-wall profiling, and step-down finishing passes where standard-length end mills cannot reach. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures consistent tool holding in collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic chucks.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or upgrade end mill for any machine tool spindle accepting a 1-inch straight cylindrical shank, including vertical and horizontal machining centers running Series 77 tooling programs.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in a safe state per shop safety procedures. Torque the toolholder to the machine manufacturer's specification using calibrated tooling. Verify runout at the cutting edge after clamping before initiating a cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before each setup.
