The SGS 77277 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. Built on the Series 77 platform, it features a 3/4 inch cutting diameter, 7 spiral flutes with a variable helix angle of 37 degrees, and a TiN (titanium nitride) finish. The extra-long configuration provides a 3 inch length of cut and a 5-1/4 inch overall length, making it well-suited for deep-cavity and extended-reach milling operations. Micrograin carbide construction delivers wear resistance and edge retention across a broad range of workpiece materials. This tool is installed and operated by CNC machinists and precision machining professionals.
The SGS 77277 is applicable across multiple workpiece material categories including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, steel alloys, and high-temperature superalloys, as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The extra-long reach and variable helix geometry make it a practical choice for deep-slot milling, profiling, and side milling operations on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The single-end, right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration suits standard spindle setups.
Designed for use in standard straight-bore tool holders accepting a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the supplier specifications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tool-and-die professional. Secure the shank fully within the tool holder to the minimum engagement depth recommended by the holder manufacturer before tightening. Verify runout with a dial indicator prior to cutting, as extra-long end mills are more sensitive to deflection than standard-length tools. Do not use this tool for plunge cutting, as the non-centercutting geometry does not support axial entry.
