The SGS 77125 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining environments. Built on the SGS Series 77 platform, this end mill features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, 7 flutes, and a variable helix geometry that reduces chatter and improves surface finish at higher feed rates. The TiN (titanium nitride) coating increases surface hardness and extends tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. With a 1 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length, it is suited for applications requiring reach into deep pockets or extended tool engagement. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in production or job-shop settings.
The SGS 77125 is intended for milling operations on a broad range of workpiece materials including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and titanium alloys, consistent with primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The extra-long length designation and spiral flute geometry make it well suited for peripheral milling, slotting, and profiling where tool stability and chip evacuation are critical. The straight cylindrical shank is compatible with standard ER and side-lock toolholders sized for 1/4 inch shank diameters.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by SGS Series 77 classification. Fits standard 1/4 inch bore ER collets, milling chucks, and side-lock holders. Non-centercutting geometry; not intended for direct plunge entry.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in a vise or holder block before inserting or removing the end mill. Verify collet bore size matches the 1/4 inch shank diameter and that runout does not exceed the tolerance specified for the application. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended depth of cut or axial engagement for the selected workpiece material and cutting condition.
