The SGS 74010 is a single-flute solid carbide countersink designed for precision hole chamfering and seat preparation across a wide range of materials. With a 3/8 inch head diameter and a 60-degree included angle, it produces clean, consistent countersunk profiles suited for fastener seating and deburring operations. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1/4 inch in diameter, and the overall length is 2-13/16 inches. Right-hand cut geometry provides standard directional cutting compatible with conventional drill press and CNC spindle rotation. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and fabricators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary installers.
This countersink is rated for use across a broad material application range including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, high-temperature alloy, non-ferrous metal, composite, and plastic. The solid carbide construction makes it well-suited for harder and more abrasive materials where high-speed steel tooling would wear prematurely. It is appropriate for both manual machine setups and CNC-controlled countersinking operations in light-to-medium production environments.
Designed as an OEM-style cutting tool replacement for countersinking applications requiring a 1/4 inch straight shank and 60-degree angle geometry across ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC operators using a compatible collet, end-mill holder, or drill chuck sized for a 1/4 inch shank. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before tool changes. Secure the shank fully within the holding device to the recommended engagement depth per the machine manufacturer guidelines. Verify workpiece clamping and spindle speed settings appropriate to the workpiece material before starting the cut.
