The SGS 74004 is a single-flute solid carbide countersink designed for precision chamfering and countersinking operations in demanding machining environments. It features a 60-degree included angle and a 3/16-inch head diameter, making it well suited for creating clean, accurate countersink profiles in tight or hard-to-reach locations. The tool is ground from solid carbide throughout, including the shank, which provides rigidity and resistance to deflection at elevated cutting speeds. Right-hand cutting geometry and a straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders.
This countersink is intended for use across a broad range of materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, high-temperature alloys, non-ferrous metals, composites, and plastics. It is suited for production machining, toolroom work, and field deburring applications where a compact, single-flute tool is required. The 2-inch overall length fits standard toolholding setups on manual and CNC machines alike.
Designed as a direct-fit countersink for use with standard straight-bore drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 3/16-inch shank diameter.
This tool is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians using a standard drill chuck or collet holder. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder before engaging the workpiece. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing or adjusting tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant recommendations for the specific workpiece material being machined.
