The SGS 70004 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in tight-tolerance machining applications. Built to Series 200 standards, this reamer features a 1/16 inch (0.0625 inch decimal) diameter with a diameter tolerance of +0.0002 to -0.0000 inches, making it suitable for work where bore accuracy is critical. The straight, four-flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction produce a clean, consistent finish on through and blind holes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes are the primary users of this tool.
The SGS 70004 is applied in precision hole finishing operations across metalworking environments including job shops, tool rooms, and production machining cells. Its compact 1-1/2 inch overall length and 3/4 inch flute length make it well-suited for small-diameter bore work in tight spaces or shallow hole depths. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into collet chucks or drill chucks without modification. Typical materials machined include ferrous and non-ferrous metals where a bright, uncoated carbide edge performs reliably.
Designed as a standard Series 200 chucking reamer for use in any machine tool setup accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 1/16 inch diameter range, including CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses equipped with appropriate collet or drill chuck tooling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolmakers. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or removing the reamer from the chuck. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck to the tool manufacturer and machine builder specifications to prevent runout. Reaming should follow a drilled or bored pilot hole sized appropriately undersize to allow the reamer to remove only the material needed to reach final tolerance — do not attempt to ream from solid material.
