The SGS 66676 is a taper length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in universal material applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with Ti-NAMITE-X, it delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance in demanding production environments. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and minimizes breakthrough burrs. With a 1/4 inch diameter and an 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio, it is sized for deep-hole applications where standard-length bits fall short. The right-hand spiral flute clears chips efficiently, and the web-thinned geometry reduces thrust load. This bit is typically installed by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and precision metalworking tradespeople.
The SGS 66676 is suited for through-hole and blind-hole drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, composites, and other universal material types. The coolant-through design allows cutting fluid to reach the tip directly, making it appropriate for CNC machining centers and other machine-tool setups where internal coolant delivery is available. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. It follows DIN 6537 specification, making it compatible with metric tooling programs and quality systems that reference DIN standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and high-performance upgrade for taper length drill applications requiring a 1/4 inch solid carbide bit with a straight cylindrical shank conforming to DIN 6537.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists on CNC or manual machine tools equipped for straight-shank tooling. Ensure the spindle and chuck or collet are free of debris and the shank is fully seated before securing. When using the coolant-through feature, confirm that machine coolant pressure and flow rate are compatible with the bit design before operation. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended cutting parameters for the material being drilled.
