The SGS 66673 is a taper length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in a wide range of materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with Ti-NAMITE-X (TX), it is designed for demanding production environments where tool life and hole quality are critical. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and lowers thrust requirements at entry. With an 8xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio, a 95 mm flute length, and a 4-31/64 inch overall length, this bit handles deeper hole applications that standard-length drills cannot reach. A web-thinned point further improves chip evacuation and cutting efficiency. Coolant-through capability makes it compatible with CNC machining centers equipped with through-spindle coolant.
The SGS 66673 is suited for universal material applications including steel, stainless, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys. It is a strong fit for production machining, tool rooms, and maintenance shops requiring consistent hole tolerances in taper-length drilling operations. The cylindrical straight shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification, making it a practical choice across CNC and manual setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use taper length drill bit for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines accepting a straight cylindrical shank in the 9.7 mm diameter range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per standard OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the cylindrical shank fully and evenly in the collet or chuck before tightening to manufacturer torque specifications for the holder in use. When using coolant-through capability, verify that the machine spindle coolant pressure and flow rate are within the range appropriate for this diameter. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping or wear before each use; carbide is brittle and should not be dropped or subjected to side impact.
