The SGS 66661 is a taper length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with Ti-NAMITE-X (TX) for extended tool life, this bit features a 135-degree split point for fast, accurate hole entry with minimal walking. The 17/64 inch diameter, spiral flute design, and 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio support efficient chip evacuation during deep drilling. Coolant-through capability makes it suitable for high-speed machining operations where heat management is critical. It cuts right-hand and is manufactured to DIN 6537 specification.
This drill bit is suited for universal material applications including steel, stainless, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals where consistent hole geometry and tight tolerances are required. The 4-31/64 inch overall length and taper length body make it a practical choice for reaching deeper features in structural components, fabricated assemblies, and precision machined parts. It is typically installed in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision hand-drilling setups by machinists, tool and die technicians, and skilled fabricators. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard chucks and collet holders without modification.
Designed as an OEM-style taper length drill bit compatible with standard straight cylindrical chuck and collet systems; suited for universal material applications as specified by the Series 142P designation.
Install and remove this bit using appropriate chuck keys or collet tools with the machine fully powered off and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated and secure in the holder before operation. Coolant lines should be confirmed clear and flowing before engaging coolant-through drilling cycles. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide bits are brittle under lateral loading.
