The SGS 66650 is a taper length drill bit built for high-performance drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide and coated with Ti-NAMITE-X (TX coating), this bit delivers superior hardness, heat resistance, and edge retention compared to high-speed steel alternatives. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and lowers entry force, making it well suited for precision hole-starting without a center punch. At 5/16 inch diameter with a flute length of approximately 2.99 inches and an overall length of 4-31/64 inches, the 66650 fits the Series 142P geometry and is rated as a high-performance grade tool per DIN 6537 standards.
This drill bit is designed for universal material application, meaning it performs across steel, stainless, cast iron, aluminum, and similar engineering materials. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides extended reach for deeper holes without sacrificing rigidity. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed CNC and manual drilling setups where through-coolant is available. The straight cylindrical shank measures 8 mm in diameter and approximately 1.44 inches in shank length, fitting standard drill chucks and collet holders used in machining, fabrication, and maintenance environments. Right-hand spiral flutes efficiently evacuate chips during cutting.
Designed as a high-performance replacement drill bit for applications requiring a 5/16 inch diameter, taper length carbide bit with a straight cylindrical shank. Fits standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting an 8 mm shank diameter.
This bit should be installed and operated by qualified machinists, tooling technicians, or maintenance professionals familiar with carbide tooling handling. Confirm the spindle and chuck or collet are clean and properly torqued before seating the shank. Solid carbide is brittle relative to high-speed steel — avoid side-loading, impact, or using the bit in a hammer-drill mode. When using coolant-through capability, verify coolant pressure and flow rate are compatible with the machine spindle before operation.
