The SGS 66622 is a taper length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling across a wide range of materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and finished with a TX coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in demanding applications. It features a 135-degree split point for accurate self-centering starts and reduced thrust. The 3/4-inch diameter bit has a flute length of 7-31/64 inches and an overall length of 9-9/16 inches. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed, deep-hole drilling operations where chip evacuation and thermal management are critical. Right-hand spiral flutes with web thinning improve chip flow and reduce walking at entry.
The SGS 66622 is suited for production drilling in machine shop, fabrication, and toolroom environments. Its universal material application rating makes it appropriate for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials. The cylindrical shank is compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio classifies this as a taper length format, offering greater reach than jobber-length bits while maintaining rigidity. Typical users include machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance professionals running CNC machining centers or manual drill presses.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collet tool holders accepting a cylindrical shank in CNC and manual drilling applications.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and tool holder are fully de-energized and secured before loading or removing the bit. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to side loads, interrupted cuts outside its rated parameters, or impact from drops. Verify runout and tool holder concentricity before beginning a drilling cycle to avoid premature chipping or breakage.
