The SGS 66612 is a taper length drill bit built for high-performance drilling in a wide range of materials. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide and finished with a TX coating, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in demanding applications. The 135-degree split point reduces thrust and self-centers on contact, minimizing walking without a center punch. With a 3.6 mm diameter (0.1417 inches) and a right-hand spiral flute, this bit is designed for precision hole-making in production environments. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die shops, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary users.
The 66612 is rated for universal material application, making it suitable for steel, stainless, aluminum, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials. The Series 142P taper length geometry provides additional reach compared to jobber-length bits, useful when drilling deeper features or working through thicker stock. The 8xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation across the full 34 mm maximum drilling depth. Coolant-through capability allows internal coolant delivery directly to the cutting zone, reducing thermal load and improving chip flushing in CNC and production setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production drill bit for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines equipped with standard cylindrical-shank toolholders or collets sized for a 5.99 mm shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with cutting tool setup. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the cylindrical shank fully and evenly in the collet or chuck to prevent runout. When using coolant-through capability, verify that the spindle and toolholder support internal coolant delivery before engaging the coolant circuit.
