The SGS 66607 is a solid carbide taper length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a wide range of materials. Built to DIN 6537 standards and manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, this bit delivers consistent hole quality and dimensional accuracy in demanding shop and field applications. The Ti-NAMITE-X (TX) coating reduces friction and extends cutting life. The 135-degree split point initiates on contact without center punching, and the web-thinned geometry reduces thrust. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed production drilling. This bit is suited for machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and maintenance professionals working with CNC equipment or manual drill presses.
The SGS 66607 is appropriate for universal material applications including steel, stainless, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it well suited for deeper hole work where standard-length bits fall short. Its straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. This bit is typically used in production machining environments, fabrication shops, and precision maintenance work where tight hole tolerances and repeatable performance are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual drilling equipment accepting straight cylindrical shank drill bits. The 5.99 mm shank diameter is compatible with standard ER collets and drill chucks sized for 1/8 inch shanks.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the drill chuck or collet is fully powered down and spindle is locked before inserting or removing the bit. Confirm shank seating depth meets the machine manufacturer's minimum engagement specification before operation. When using coolant-through capability, verify that coolant pressure and flow rate are within the recommended range for the machine spindle to avoid damage to the bit or workholding equipment.
