The SGS 66592 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance metal cutting applications. Built to DIN 6537 specification, it features an 11.90 mm (0.4685 inch) diameter, a 135-degree split point, and a Ti-NAMITE-X coating that extends tool life in demanding materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 12.00 mm in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks or toolholders. With a 2-flute spiral geometry and web-thinned point, this drill reduces thrust force at entry and improves chip evacuation. It is suited for machinists, toolroom technicians, and production drilling personnel working on CNC machining centers or manual drill presses requiring tight-tolerance, repeatable hole quality.
The SGS 66592 is designed for precision drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloy steels, stainless steel, and other hard materials where solid carbide tooling is specified over high-speed steel. The coolant-through design supports internal coolant delivery to the cutting zone, making it well suited for deep-hole drilling operations on CNC machining centers equipped with through-spindle coolant. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance for drilling to a maximum depth of 56.00 mm (2.2047 inches). This bit is appropriate for production shops, tool-and-die operations, and maintenance machining environments where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical.
Designed as a high-performance replacement jobber drill for CNC machining centers and manual drill presses accepting a 12.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank, within the SGS Series 142P product line.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the straight-cylindrical shank is properly seated and clamped to the required runout specification for your toolholder before initiating a cut. When using the coolant-through feature, confirm that the machine spindle and toolholder are rated for internal coolant delivery and that coolant pressure is set according to the machining center manufacturer guidelines. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 56.00 mm without retracting to clear chips.
