The SGS 66589 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built to DIN 6537 standards, it features a 135-degree split point for accurate self-centering and reduced thrust, and is finished with a Ti-NAMITE-X (TX) proprietary coating that extends tool life in abrasive and hard-material applications. The 11.60 mm (0.4567 inch) diameter bit runs at an overall length of 4.6457 inches with a 2.7953-inch spiral flute and a straight cylindrical shank measuring 12.00 mm in diameter. Coolant-through capability makes it well-suited for deep-hole work in production machining environments. Installers and machinists working in tool and die, aerospace component fabrication, or precision metalworking will find this bit delivers repeatable, tight-tolerance results.
This drill bit is designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and similar rigid setups capable of taking advantage of through-coolant delivery. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and web-thinned point geometry support efficient chip evacuation in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened steels, and similar difficult-to-machine materials. With a maximum drilling depth of 2.2047 inches (56.00 mm) and a 2-flute right-hand spiral configuration, it targets applications requiring consistent hole quality and dimensional accuracy within the 0.4000 to 0.5000 inch (10.00 to 12.50 mm) diameter range. This is a single-unit item with a per-piece packaging quantity of one.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production drill bit for CNC machining centers and rigid drill press setups accepting a 12.00 mm straight cylindrical shank in the 0.4000 to 0.5000 inch diameter class.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tool and die professionals. Ensure the machine spindle and coolant system are fully shut down before changing tooling. Secure the shank firmly in a collet or chuck rated for the shank diameter before applying power. Do not use in hand-held drills or non-rigid setups, as solid carbide tooling is brittle and will fracture under lateral loading.
