The SGS 66554 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance metal cutting applications. Built to DIN 6537 standards, it features a 135-degree split point, a Ti-NAMITE-X coating for extended tool life and heat resistance, and through-coolant capability for efficient chip evacuation in deep-hole drilling. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 10.00 mm in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks or collet holders. At 8.10 mm in diameter and 4.06 inches overall length, this bit belongs to the SGS Series 142P line and is rated as a high-performance, micrograin carbide grade. Machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary users.
This drill bit is suited for production and precision drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, cast iron, and similar hard materials where carbide tooling is specified over high-speed steel. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and web-thinned point geometry support clean entry and reduced thrust in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills. Coolant-through design makes it well-matched to applications requiring chip flushing and thermal control in deeper bores. The two-flute spiral configuration promotes chip clearance in a wide range of workpiece materials.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber drill replacement in the SGS Series 142P line, compatible with standard straight-cylindrical shank chuck systems and collet holders accepting a 10.00 mm shank diameter.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool-room professionals in a machine shop environment. Before mounting, verify the spindle or chuck is fully stopped and the machine is locked out per facility LOTO procedures. Confirm the chuck or collet bore matches the 10.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank before tightening. When using the coolant-through feature, ensure the coolant system pressure and flow rate are appropriate for the machine spindle before engaging the cut.
