The SGS 66553 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding machining applications. Built to DIN 6537 specification, it features a 135-degree split point, a right-hand spiral flute, and a proprietary Ti-NAMITE-X (TX) coating for extended tool life and heat resistance. The 8.00 mm diameter and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and tool holders. With micrograin carbide construction and a web-thinned point, this bit delivers clean entry, reduced thrust force, and consistent hole geometry in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and precision fabricators.
The SGS 66553 is suited for production drilling in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses where tight diameter tolerances and long tool life are required. The through-coolant design supports high-speed cutting in difficult materials by delivering coolant directly to the cutting edge. With a flute-to-diameter ratio of 5xD and a maximum drilling depth of 35.00 mm (1.378 inches), it handles moderate-depth holes in a single pass without pecking cycles in many applications. Series 142P positions it as a general-purpose yet high-performance solution for shops running precision hole work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production drill bit for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and multi-spindle setups requiring an 8.00 mm straight-shank jobber length carbide drill conforming to DIN 6537.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with carbide tooling handling requirements. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or changing the drill bit. Carbide is brittle — avoid impact during handling and do not use this bit in a hammer or impact-style drilling mode. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits before use, as excessive runout will accelerate chipping and premature failure.
