The SGS 66545 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production and job-shop environments. It features a 135-degree split point with web thinning for fast penetration and reduced walking on entry, and is coated with Ti-NAMITE-X for extended tool life in abrasive and hard materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 8.00 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 3.5827 inches. Coolant-through capability supports deep-hole drilling with improved chip evacuation and thermal control. This bit is suited for CNC machining centers and precision drilling applications where tight tolerances and long run lengths are required.
The SGS 66545 is intended for use in metalworking and precision machining applications, including production drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, hardened steels, and cast materials. Its Series 142P designation and DIN 6537 specification make it a recognized standard-geometry tool for shops running metric tooling programs. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 2.0866-inch flute length allow adequate chip clearance in medium-depth holes. Machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and CNC operators working in manufacturing, aerospace component work, and general metalworking will find this bit appropriate for their applications.
Designed as a standard-geometry jobber drill for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines equipped with chucks or collet systems accepting an 8.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Fits tooling setups within the 7.00 mm to 8.00 mm drill diameter range per DIN specification.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the chuck or collet is clean and properly torqued before running. Verify coolant lines are connected and flowing before engaging the spindle when using the coolant-through feature. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 1.1417 inches without retracting to clear chips.
