The SGS 66466 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a wide range of materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with Ti-NAMITE-X, this bit delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance in demanding production environments. The 135-degree split point with web thinning reduces thrust force and improves self-centering on entry. At 3.5 inches overall length with a 1.85-inch flute length, it fits standard screw machine and CNC drilling applications. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat management during deep cuts. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die techs, and CNC operators are the primary installers of this tooling.
This drill bit is suited for production drilling in machining centers, CNC lathes, drill presses, and screw machines. The 9.60 mm diameter and straight-cylindrical shank with a 10.00 mm shank diameter make it compatible with standard collet chucks and drill chucks in that size range. The Universal primary workpiece material rating means it performs across ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites. It conforms to DIN 6537 specification, making it a recognized standard for screw machine length tooling in industrial settings. Series 142P is SGS's high-performance carbide drill line.
Designed as a screw machine length replacement drill bit for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 9.50 mm to 11.00 mm diameter range per the Series 142P sizing family.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Confirm chuck or collet size matches the 10.00 mm shank diameter before seating the bit. When using coolant-through capability, verify that machine coolant pressure and flow rate are within the spindle system specifications before starting the cut.
