The SGS 66441 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a wide range of workpiece materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with Ti-NAMITE-X, this bit delivers extended tool life and resistance to heat buildup in demanding production environments. The 135-degree split point reduces thrust and improves hole entry accuracy without a center punch. At 3.11 inches overall length with a 1.61-inch flute length, the screw machine (stub) length format provides added rigidity over jobber-length bits, making it well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual setups where chatter and deflection need to be minimized. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.31 inches in diameter. This bit is sold individually.
The SGS 66441 fits production and job-shop drilling applications where hole quality and tool life matter. The universal primary workpiece material designation means it performs across steel, stainless, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed drilling cycles in CNC applications where internal coolant delivery is available. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and web-thinned geometry reduce cutting forces and help clear chips efficiently. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators working in metalworking, fabrication, and maintenance environments are the primary users of this bit.
Designed as a Series 142P screw machine length drill bit suitable for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual drilling setups that accept a 0.31-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with a universal range of workpiece materials as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck or collet are clean and properly sized for a 0.31-inch straight shank before securing the bit. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to side loads, impact, or interrupted cuts beyond the tool design parameters. When coolant-through capability is used, verify coolant pressure is within machine specifications before initiating a drilling cycle.
