The SGS 66428 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a wide range of workpiece materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with Ti-NAMITE-X, this bit delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in demanding production environments. The 135-degree split point with web thinning reduces thrust force and improves hole entry accuracy. At 11/64 inches (0.2283 inches decimal) in diameter and 2.6 inches overall length, it fits standard straight-cylindrical shank toolholding systems. Two spiral flutes with a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio efficiently evacuate chips during drilling. Coolant-through capability makes it well suited for high-cycle or deep-hole applications where heat management is critical. Machining professionals and toolroom operators are the primary users.
This drill bit is rated for universal workpiece material, making it appropriate for use in steel, aluminum, cast iron, and similar materials encountered in general machining, fabrication shops, and production environments. The screw machine length body provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, which improves straightness and reduces deflection in short-reach setups. The Series 142P designation follows DIN 6537 specification. It is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where a straight-cylindrical shank is accepted.

Installation is performed by machinists and toolroom technicians in machine shop environments. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the collet or chuck before tightening to manufacturer torque specifications for your toolholder. When using the coolant-through feature, verify that the coolant system is properly connected and that coolant pressure is appropriate for the application before initiating the cut.
